NEW MACHU PICCHU CIRCUITS

On October 01st, 2021 Machu Picchu authorities established that the visit to the Inca Citadel will be carried out by strict Circuits. What’s the purpose? It seeks to prevent risks of contagion with Covid-19 as well as protect and preserve the new seven of the world for the future. Each visitor has to follow a circuit according to the ticket they bought:

At the moment when you enter the official Machu Picchu ticket website: https://www.machupicchu.gob.pe/  you will find 5 tickets that you have to choose from:

1. Machu Picchu Only ticket (circuit 1, 2, 3, or 4)
2. Circuit 4 + WaynaPicchu
3. Machu Picchu Mountain + Circuit 3
4. Circuit 4 + Huchuy Picchu Mountain
5. Circuit 1 o 2 + Inca Bridge

Machu Picchu only ticket(Circuit 1, 2, 3, or 4): This ticket allows you to access to  Machu Picchu citadel through circuits 1, 2, 3, or 4. You can choose any of them depending on your time and physical condition. We recommend you choose circuit 2 because it allows you to take postcard pictures of Machu Picchu with Huayna Picchu mountain in the background and you will explore the whole Citadel.

Circuit 4 + WaynaPicchu: With this ticket, you are allowed to visit Machu Picchu only by circuit 4, then climb Huayna Picchu Mountain.

Machu Picchu Mountain + Circuit 3: With this ticket, you are allowed to hike Machu Picchu Mountain, then Visit Machu Picchu citadel following only circuit 3.  This ticket has the option of re-entry to the Machu Picchu citadel.

Circuit 4 + Huchuy Picchu Mountain: With this ticket, you are allowed to visit Machu Picchu only through circuit 4. Then hike to Huchuy Picchu Mountain.

Circuit 1 o 2 + Inca Bridge: With this ticket, you are allowed to visit Mach Picchu through circuit 1 or 2, then you can hike to the Inca bridge.

MACHU PICCHU CIRCUITS

CIRCUIT 1: HIGH SHORT (RED)

After entering the Checkpoint, you hike to the upper sector over the guard’s house where you will take the Postcard shot of Mach Picchu then go through the main entrance to the urban sector where you will visit the Temple of the Sun, Machu Picchu quarry, and from from the botanical garden you go lower sector and then back to the exit.

Things to know

• This Circuit is the Best For the Classic shot of Machu Picchu.
• This circuit includes access to the upper terraces from where you will see Machu Picchu in its splendor.

CIRCUIT 2: HIGH-LONG (BLUE)

After passing the checkpoint, you go to the upper sector over the Guard s house where you will take a postcard shot of Machu Picchu then walk down to the main gate, then you will explore, Intiwatana, the temple of the sun then go to Sacred rock where the Huayna Picchu hike start. Then visit the temple of the condor, and exit through the terrace by the lower sector.

• This circuit is long and complete so we recommend you buy this one if you want to explore the whole Machu Picchu Citadel.
• This circuit includes access to the upper terraces from where you will see Machu Picchu in its splendor.

CIRCUIT 3: LOW SHORT (YELLOW)

After passing the checkpoint, you Access the lower part through the Qolqas (storehouses), and terraces, then walk to the House of the Inca, the Water Fountains, and Water mirrors, then exit through Pisonae Square.

Things to know: 

• This circuit doesn’t include access to the upper terraces so you won’t take a classic picture of Macchu Picchu.
• People who hike Inca Trail 4-day trek, and Inca trail 2-day trek follow circuit 3 to visit Machu Picchu.

CIRCUIT 4: LOW LONG (LIGHT BLUE)

Similar to circuit 3, you Access by the lower part and you don’t have a chance to take postcard pictures of Machu Picchu. You will visit the Inkas house first, then go to the Main plaza, and continue to Sacred rock where the people hike Huayna Picchu start then, and exit through the terrace in the lower sector.

• This circuit is combined with the Huayna Picchu Hike and Huchuy Picchu Mountain.
• This circuit doesn’t include access to the upper terraces so you won’t take a classic picture of Macchu Picchu.
